Former Waterford boss John 'Jackson' Kiely fancies The Nire to shade Sunday's county senior football final.

"The way The Nire demolished Ballinacourty in the semi final, I'd have to go along with the pundits. On this year's form, The Nire are worthy favourites."

It won't be one-way traffic. "A lot of fellas think that The Nire will win it handy, that's not going to happen. This is going to be a close game. I can see Rathgormack putting up a huge battle against them but I can just about see The Nire winning it by a couple of points."

Injuries to Tom Walsh and Billy Power are a big blow to Rathgormack's chances. "Tom Walsh is a huge loss to them. Billy Power is another playmaker and a very good forward. If he's not starting, he a huge loss."
