Records for high temperatures are expected to be set this week across southern Europe as the effects of a heatwave continue.
Temperatures are expected to surge as high as 48 degrees in Sardinia tomorrow (Tuesday), potentially the highest ever recorded in Europe, while Rome is set to be it with its own record temperature of 43 degrees.
A forest fire, meanwhile, has been raging on the Spanish island of La Palma, resulting in thousands of people being evacuated from their homes.
Here in Ireland, some travel agents have been reporting a slow-down on last minute bookings to affected countries while some with holidays already booked and upcoming are nervous about whether or not to travel.
