Public tours of the Waterford Distillery located on Mary Street in the city are to commence from tomorrow (Friday).

The tours of the premises - at Grattan Quay - will be available to book through the company's website, Head Distiller Ned Gahan told Déise Today this morning.

Waterford Distillery was founded back in 2015 by Mark Reynier, formerly the co-owner of Bruicladdich Distillery.

The site at Grattan Quay, producing whisky with a strong focus on local barley, is the former Guinness Brewery and also includes the former Strangman's Brewery which closed in 2950.

About 25 people are currently employed at the company.

This morning, Head Distiller Ned Gahan told Damien Tiernan that given the business opened during Covid, this was the first opportunity to open for tours - and everyone involved was very excited about it.
