Beekeepers are warning that Ireland needs to be on 'high alert' at the moment regarding the dreaded Asian Hornet.
The Irish Beekeepers Association this morning (Friday) highlighted on WLR the recent confirmation of 10,000 Asian Hornet nests in the Cherbourgh area of France.
Notably, this is an area that is linked to Ireland with four weekly ferry crossings.
Colette O'Connell is PRO of the Irish Beekeepers' Association and she is also the Education Officer with the Co. Waterford Beekeepers' Association.
Dungarvan-based, she spoke on 'Deise Today' this morning about how Asian Hornets are a big threat to our native bees - and the last thing we want is their arrival here in Ireland!
