Did you know that at the moment, some 62% of women breastfeed their new babies in Ireland - and it's actually closer to 68% in University Hospital Waterford.
This Friday (October 1) marks the start of National Breastfeeding Week in Ireland.
On this morning's Deise Today, Damien spoke to Claire Bulfin who is the Lactation Consultant at UHW.
After a break away for a number of years, she returned to midwifery at UHW during Covid.
As well as the issue - and importance - of breastfeeding, she spoke to Damien Tiernan this morning about how the pandemic was a very difficult time for pregnant mothers, and new mothers.
She believes that it's only in years to come we'll become aware of the 'untold stories' of many women during the pandemic.
