Tramore woman, Lorna Corcoran, is warning people in the area of a tradesman who scammed her and her father of €500 for gutter cleaning.

The man initially said he would charge €80 to clean gutters on the roof of her elderly fathers's house.

However, the scammer then claimed that he changed brackets that were loose on the roof and demanded an additional €420.

Lorna said they couldn't afford the amount he was asking for but he insisted they didn't have to pay right then.

"He didn't seem to want to take no for an answer... My dad had €400 in the house, the last of his savings," she said.

Lorna said that they felt they had no choice but to pay the man.
