It's one year to the day (Feb 24) since the shocking invasion of Ukraine began.

Tens of thousands have died; many, many more have been injured and displaced....lives utterly devastated by the events.

Indeed, quantifying the toll (economic also) that the Russian invasion has taken is still an impossible task.

Vlada Peneva was a successful television producer in Odesa in Ukraine but six months ago came to Ireland.

Initially, she was here alone but was joined some months back by her children. The family now reside in Dunmore East where her children are also attending school.

Vlada spoke to Damien on 'Deise Today' this morning about how she feels about the war one year on.

She also recounted how her life, and that of her family, has been changed forever by it.
