Waterford bus company Suirway has announced an end to its bus services serving Dunmore East, Portlaw and Passage East from October 31.
In a statement this morning (Monday), the company has apologised to its customers but said the decision follows a "prolonged period of extremely difficult trading" since the onset of Covid.
It has also cited other contributory factors including the national transport policy landscape, impending sustainability considerations and global events.
The news has come as a huge blow to the communities of Dunmore East, Portlaw and Passage where many people depend on the services in and out of Waterford city for school, college, work and appointments.
