Pat Carty, Journalist with Hot Press magazine, spoke to Damien this morning about famous songs and their lyrics.
They discussed how fans turn to detectives when songwriters and musicians won't reveal the meaning behind the lyrics.
Pat says that mystery lyrics write cheques for musicians.
They spoke about Don McClean's American Pie and John Lennon's Imagine.
American Pie can be interpreted in many different ways. There are some mentions of the plane crash that killed Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens, which refers to the Day Music Died.
Throughout the song, Don references different people such as "The King" who could be seen as Elvis and the "Woman who sings the Blues" who could be Janice Joplin.
Producers have come out and said the song is about the death of the American Dream, but people are still finding their own meanings.
In terms of John Lennon's Imagine, Pat says some people see it as a communist manifesto because of the lyrics about freedom.
He also says it could be a message for peace, and that because it is so simple musically it sticks in your head.
The two go on to analyse music and discuss whether having beautiful or simple lyrics is more valued.
Pat says that a good melody and beat are the most important parts of a song.
