A Ukranian woman who has been living in Waterford for the past twenty years has spoken about the atrocities currently facing her country.

Oksana Zadolynna has been living here since the early 2000s, and is the owner of Caulfield's Bar on the Yellow Road in Waterford City.

Oksana comes from Western Ukraine and her brother is still in the country despite millions of people fleeing over the border into neighbouring Poland.

Her brother is safe in the West, and is working in a holiday resort that is accomodating refugees who are fleeing in fear of their lives.

Oksana is married here, and says her 19-year-old daughter has been crying every day watching the footage of what has unfolded in Ukraine.

She says the situation is simply 'heartbreaking'.
