Niall Hatch, PR and Development Officer with Birdwatch Ireland, joined Damien this morning to discuss Avian Flu, which has been killing birds around Waterford's coast recently.
The two discussed what the flu is and how it has been affecting birds recently.
The most recent strain of the flu is rampant around Europe but has now spread to Ireland, resulting in dead birds being spotted around Waterford's coasts.
It got to Ireland because of sea birds nesting close to each other but originally came from Asian duck farms.
There has been outbreaks in Ireland before, particularly in the Winter, therefore this Summer outbreak is quite unusual.
Niall discussed the risks that are associated with the disease for both humans and animals.
To avoid risking getting the flu yourself, it is advised that you do not touch these birds or try to help any that may seem injured.
