Waterford actor Michael Power returns to the Theatre Royal stage this month, to once again work with playwright Pat Daly and director Liam Butler on Pat’s new play, The Attack.

Michael and Pat first collaborated in 1999 on Red Kettle’s production of Pat’s professional debut, “The Pilferers”.

Since then, they have worked on a number of Pat’s plays, including “Urbs Intacta Manet”, directed by Michael in 2003. In 2005, Michael directed Pat’s play “GTI”, starring Liam Butler.

Liam subsequently directed Michael in Pat’s play “John Roberts Square”. B

Both Liam and Michael helped co-produce Pat’s play “Dissident” in 2012., while 2019 saw Michael and Pat collaborate on the writing of a new work “Undocumented” with Tony Kelly, which was broadcast on WLR in 2020.

The trio are delighted to be once again working together in their first post-Covid collaboration, which runs at Theatre Royal from tonight, August 17 up to Saturday August 20th.

Set in Waterford City, The Attack features Pat’s signature gritty realism and dark humour as it tells a story of a good man’s life- altering journey to his dark side.

Michael spoke with Damien Tiernan on Deise Today this morning as 'The Attack' hits the stage for the first of four nights this evening.
