"We're nearly there."

Those are the words of Deputy Matt Shanahan after making the announcement of 8 to 8 cardiac care for Waterford.

He told Damien on Deise Today about the great news after discussing nursing homes and SETU.

The new cardiac care hours will be in effect from Monday. They will be 8 to 8 from Monday to Friday.

At the moment, the hours are 9 to 5.

There will also be a cardiologist at University Hospital Waterford. They will be on call 24/7.

As well, as this there will be a second cath lab opening up.

Matt got emotional discussing the news as it is somethin that he cares deeply about.

Paul Reid, CEO of the HSE, will be coming to Waterford on Monday to meet the staff.
