On Deise Today, Damien was joined by Peter Everett of Everetts Restaurant and Cormac Cronin of Bodega. They were discussing the continuing uncertainty facing the sector in the run up to Christmas, as concern over Covid continues.

Peter outlined how his premises on High Street in Waterford City has experienced "an awful lot of cancellations for the month of December," adding that larger groups and Christmas parties are all but gone for the season.

Cormac Cronin told Damien that Bodega has been experiencing very similar, with companies not wanting to risk bringing staff out. He said these cancellations are having a big effect.

Cormac said while he completely understands the safety first rule, it's been a very tricky time for the hospitality industry, which has invested in ventilation and other safety measures, and faces another difficult Christmas.

Both men, however, praised the support of the business community and the local people in Waterford.
