A 'Do Not Consume' notice has been issued for the Ballyogarty Water Supply in Kilmacthomas due to an exceedance of arsenic in the supply.

Separately, a 'Boil Water notice' has been issued by Uisce Éireann for customers supplied by the Kilrossanty Public Water Supply following increased turbidity in the raw water source.

The 'Do Not Consume' notice, according to Uisce Eireann, has been imposed following consultation with the HSE.

They've stressed that boiling the water does not make it safe and it's especially important the mains drinking water is not given to bottle-fed babies.

The notice applies to all areas supplied by the Ballyogarty Public Water Supply including Ballyogarty, Graigueshoneen, Cooltubrid East and areas of Kilmacthomas including Union Road, Hillside Crescent, Hillside Close and Cruachán View. An alternative water supplies in the form of a bulk tanker has been arranged and is in place at Kilmacthomas GAA Club.

Meanwhile, Uisce Éireann says the 'Boil Water Notice' is to protect the health of approximately 425 customers supplied by the Kilrossanty Supply.

The areas involved include Kilrossanty, Leamybrien, Knockyelan and Adramone.

This morning on 'Deise Today', Regional Operations Manager South East/Midlands with Uisce Eireann, Jim Fitzgerald, spoke to Maria McCann about the issues which have led to the issuing of the two, separate, notices. You can listen back to the discussion with him by clicking on the image above...
