Representatives of the hospitality industry have expressed disappointment with the scale of the supports for the sector announced in Budget 2025.
The Government’s decision to retain the higher rate of VAT for the sector has garnered particular criticism.
They declined to reduce the VAT rate for the hospitality sector from 13.5 per cent to 9 per cent, a move for which the Restaurants Association of Ireland and publicans’ groups have strenuously campaigned. Excise duty on alcohol will remain unchanged.
This morning on 'Deise Today', Damien was joined in studio by two Waterford restaurant owners to hear their concerns regarding the decision, and to talk about the challenges already facing their industry.
