Labour Councillor Ger Barron has announced he will not contest the local elections in June and is retiring from local politics in Waterford - which he first entered in 1999 when elected to Waterford County Council.
Ger was re-elected on three occasions and served as Mayor of County Waterford in 2006.
WLR's Kieran Foley spoke with Ger at his home in Kilmacthomas where he shared his personal reasons for retiring - and reflected on 20 years as a councillor….
