With the Oscar nominations announced yesterday, there have been celebrations for the Irish contingent across the country, including in Waterford.

An Cailín Ciúin, which is set in An Rinn, has been nominated for Best International Film.

The movie also known as The Quiet Girl became the first Irish Language film to gross more than a million euro at the box office when it was released last year.

It stars Catherine Clinch as the cailín at the centre of the story and Waterford's own Carrie Crowley as her aunt.

On this morning's Déise Today, Damien Tiernan was joined by Carrie herself who was still on cloud 9 after yesterday's announcement.

Before her, Pádraigín Ní Chadhla, who is a retired primary school teacher from An Sean Phobal and she shared her views on what this nomination means for An Rinn and for the Irish language.

Resident of An Rinn, Elaine O'Hara had a part in the movie too, and she told Damien what it was like to be involved.
