FANS of Waterford FC who were present at a game at Markets Field in early November at which a stand was evacuated, have reacted angrily to a statement from the FAI.

'Accidental excessive force' has been cited as the reason for damage to the stand on November 4 by the FAI - although they have not yet released the report itself into their investigation.

A section of Waterford supporters had to vacate the stand at the Limerick venue during a first-division play-off final and, as a result, the game was halted for the first 5 mins because of the concerns over structural issues.

After the incident, the FAI announced the matter would be subject to an investigation.

Yesterday (Wednesday), the FAI released a statement saying the investigation/report concluded that neither malicious intent not structural issues were factors in the damaging of the stand.

However, fans of Waterford FC feel the wording of the statement points the figure at fans' behaviour while they also say there were previous safety issues with the stand, which had been flagged.

They've called on the FAI to publish the report as a priority.

On this morning's (Thursday's) Deise Today, Damien spoke to a number of Blues who were present in the stand on the night.
