Two years ago this week, 86-year-old Stan Phillips lost his wife Bernadette.

Before she died, she encouraged Stan to seek companionship and love again and later this month, Stan - who lives here in Waterford - will feature in an episode of 'First Dates Ireland'.

While he is still grieving his beloved wife Bernadette, Stan says he also recognises the need to move on with his own life and be open to new opportunities for friendships and relationships.

This week, he spoke to Damien on 'Deise Today' about the topic of seeking and finding love again.

As a follow on to this, the show also spoke to professional matchmaker/dating specialist and podcaster, Mairead Loughman, about love after grief.

Mairead says she's dealt with many clients from their 30s right up to their 70s and 80s who are widowed and have found - and embraced - new relationships, despite the difficulties they have faced after the loss of their former partner.
