The Green Party needs to better connect with the 91% of Irish people who say climate change is important to them.

That's according to Waterford Green TD Marc O'Cathasaigh who was speaking to Damien Tiernan on Deise Today this morning (Wednesday).

In a wide-ranging interview, the Tramore based TD (and former teacher) also spoke about the importance of retaining the R117 rescue helicopter service out of Waterford Airport and how it's time now to apply the political pressure on this issue.

He also spoke about the growth of Sinn Fein as a party and said he had personally never given a vote to SF as he was "a 45-year-old man with a long memory".

Acknowledging that the SF party locally will likely be targeting his Dail seat in the next general election, Marc O'Cathasaigh gave his view that SF proposes "populist policies" that it needs to "back up with hard decisions as well as easy ones"....
