A beehive was stolen from the grounds of a property in Mothel in Co Waterford recently, in a matter that's being investigated by Waterford gardai.
The theft occurred either on the 16th or 17th of April, with the hive of black bees taken from the yard of a premises.
It happened between 10pm on the Sunday night and 1am on the Monday morning and anyone with information is asked to contact Kilmacthomas Garda Station.
The stealing of beehives is not something we hear about regularly here but there have been quite a few documented incidents in the UK recently and in other countries.
John Cunningham is a committee member of the 'East Waterford Beekeepers' Association'.
He spoke to Damien Tiernan this morning (Wednesday) about how beehive thieving can be lucrative.
They also discussed some of the 'logistics' that might be involved in such an unusual theft!....
