A former US journalist living in Waterford has described his heartbreak at the shocking events in Texas where at least 19 children and two adults were shot dead by an 18-year-old gunman.

The events at Robb Elementary School have sent shockwaves around the world, with US President Joe Biden calling for action and decrying the death of "beautiful, innocent" second, third, and fourth-graders in "another massacre."

The 18-year-old gunman was killed, apparently shot dead by the police, after fleeing the scene.

On this morning's (Wednesday's) 'Deise Today', Damien spoke to Russ Parsons who is now living in Waterford but is a former Food Editor and Columnist with the LA Times.
