Hundreds of barristers withdrew their services from courts yesterday (Oct 3rd), over the legal aid restoration issue.
Sara Phelan, current chair of The Bar Council of Ireland, spoke to Damien Tiernan on Déise Today about the withdrawal of services by criminal barristers and the pickets they placed on courthouses, including Waterford Courthouse.
The Kilkenny-based barrister discussed the reasons for the strike and the lack of engagement, as they see it, from the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform on the issue
