The quick actions of fellow beach-goers at Tramore on Sunday helped save the life of a young boy who began to choke while on the beach.
The young's boy's father, Patrick, spoke to Damien on 'Deise Today' this morning (Tuesday) and paid tribute to those that came to the family's aid.
The young boy from South Kilkenny is non verbal due to an intellectual disability and got into difficulty with his breathing while on the beach around 3pm on Sunday.
His distressed parents shouts alerted fellow beach go-ers and a number of them came to the rescue of the family, particularly two women.
One of them was an A&E nurse who helped get the boy breathing again, while the other woman alerted emergency services.
The boy received treatment in UHW after the incident and according to his father, was only moments from going unconscious when the incident unfolded.
His parents and his sister - as well as a number of others, including children, who witnessed the incident - were hugely distressed by what happened.
But Patrick, the boy's father, said this morning he's in no doubt that those who came to their assistance on Sunday on the beach saved his son's life.
