Will turkey be off the Christmas dinner list?!
Yesterday (Sunday), it was confirmed that the Dept of Agriculture has ordered a restriction zone be imposed around a Co Monaghan farm after cases of avian influenza H5NI were detected there.
Efforts are being made to contain the further spread of the avian flu to commercial poultry flocks.
At the affected the farm, close to the border near Clones, the entire flock of 3,000 turkeys will be culled and restriction zones around the infected holding have been put in place.
Following the culling, the premises in question will then be cleaned and disinfected.
