SIPTU members at Waterford Bausch and Lomb are to vote on a new pay proposal.
Intensive talks between management and the union ended at the Workplace Relations Commission yesterday evening.
Negotiations lasted 12 hours but a spokesperson for Bausch and Lomb has told WLR News, "Following extensive engagement between the parties... a proposal has been recommended for acceptance by both parties which will be put forward for employees to ballot on in the coming days."
SIPTU representatives will bring it to their members next week.
Sector Organiser, Neil McGowan says, "Following twelve hours of intensive negotiations today, the WRC has issued a set of proposals that we will bring to a ballot of our members. As union organisers and shop stewards will be briefing members next week on the detail of the proposals, we will be making no further comment on them at this time.”
Another day of industrial action had been due to take place today, but that was called off when the two sides agreed to re-enter talks.
