A woman with an address in Dungarvan is being sought in connection with an investigation by French stud authorities.

According to the Irish Examiner, the investigation includes reference to Catherine O'Brien from Ballinroad, Dungarvan.

The paper reports that Irish authorities were contacted in 2018 about a colt that it was claimed was born in Ireland.

However, there was no record of the animal having originated here.

Cork-born Catherine O'Brien is currently wanted for questioning by Gardaí investigating allegations of fraud in the sale of horses in the past three to four years.

She is also the subject of an arrest warrant, after being convicted in her absence of breaches to animal welfare legislation.

She is now taking a judicial review of that decision.

However, her whereabouts is currently unknown.

Back in April, WLR reported on a court case involving an alleged "romance fraud scheme" in West Waterford, which had to be delayed because the chief complainant, a Catherine O'Brien of Ballinroad couldn't be found.

The court heard she herself was a suspect in eight active cases, involving 100,000 euro and lesser amounts.

Ms O'Brien hasn't been seen at her home in Dungarvan in months.
