WLR top the poll as Waterford's Favourite Radio Station

WLR continues to hold a hugely strong presence in the radio market with 61,000 Waterford people listening weekly, according to the latest IPSOS JNLR results.

The connection that the station has with the Waterford public has once again been reflected in the listener figures as WLR continues to be the most listened to station in Waterford!

The station has a daily reach of 38,000 with WLR’s specialist speech and music programmes performing particularly well in these latest results (released May 15).

Radio, generally, is performing extremely well and WLR is no exception, with the results showing strong listenership to the Big Breakfast Blaa with Ollie and Dymphna, Deise Today with Damien Tiernan and to WLR News and Sport.

WLR’s new schedule launched on April 1st with Gemma Delaney moving to the 12-3pm slot and John Keane in the 3-6pm slot. Both programmes are performing very well and are very popular with WLR listeners. .

Smart speaker listenership is at an all-time high and WLR’s APP is now downloaded on 30,000 mobile phones in the Deise.

Nationally Irish radio audience is at almost 3.4 million listeners, growing by 110,000 listeners while 66% of Gen Z’s listen to radio every weekday.

The JNLR/Ipsos report, covering the period April ‘23 to March ‘24 shows that Radio enjoys huge listenership with 91% of Irish adults and 87% of 15–34-year-olds listening to radio every week.

The ability to access content easily and the quality and popularity of Irish radio means that this latest JNLR shows that the average adult is listening to radio content for over 4 hours each day.
