WLR has been shortlisted for seven awards at the 2022 IMRO Radio Awards.
The shortlist has been unveiled today ahead of the ceremony at the start of October.
The awards span six categories - Music / News & Sport / Speech / General / People / Stations of the Year - with a total of 41 awards handed out on the night.
WLR has been nominated for the following:
- News Programme - Local/Regional - WLR News @ One
- Short Feature - Big Breakfast Little Stories
- Specialist Speech Programme - Climate Change Special (on Déise Today)
- Sports Broadcaster of the Year (Local/Regional) - Nigel Kelly
- Sports Broadcaster of the Year (Local/Regional) - Kieran O'Connor
- Speech Broadcaster of the Year (Local/Regional) - Damien Tiernan
- IMRO Irish Music Programme or Initiative - Independent Broadcasters of Ireland

The 2022 IMRO Radio Awards Hall of Fame will be announced at a special gathering ahead of the main awards, where this year's inductees will be revealed.
