The West Waterford Festival of Food 2022 has been launched.
It will run from June 10th to 12th, with almost 100 events, both free and ticketed.
Over 35,000 visitors are expected to attend the 13th annual festival, which will feature local chefs Paul Flynn of The Tannery and Greg Harris of 360 Cookhouse, along with international guests Luis Martin, Head Chef at Mount Juliet’s Hunter’s Yard, and renowned Mexican-Irish chef Lily Ramirez-Foran.
Highlights include a Taste Waterford Tapas Trail, Bus Bia Tours, a Picnic River Cruise, a Blackwater Distillery Cocktail Class, a Food Cloud Dinner, a Jazz Brunch and the West Waterford Festival of Food Long Table Feast.
There will also be plenty of free activities, and events for children, with festival markets in Dungarvan, a Family Zone, Dog Show, Bake Off, and numerous outdoor activities.
Speaking to WLR at the festival launch at the Old Bank Dungarvan, CEO Maeve Quill said it's great to be back:
"The feedback we're getting is that there's a massive appetite to get out and do stuff. A lot of our activities are outside, it's a safe environment, and people want to meet each other, they haven't seen each other for a couple of years. They want to eat nice food, talk to their friends and have a good laugh."
Maeve added that as well as the array of ticketed events, the festival is renowned for its markets:
The quality of the stall-holders who come to the markets are some of the best producers, cooks and chefs in Ireland. We're very particular about who comes and creates the atmosphere and the great food. It's very multicultural."
Tickets for the 2022 West Waterford Festival of Food go on sale at 2pm on Thursday, 5th May via the festival website.
