Vacuum cleaner designer, James Dyson purchased the Ballynatry Estate on the Waterford-Cork border last year.
One of Britain's richest men, Dyson hoovered up the estate in the region of 30 million euros.
The estate was sold by its owner London and Waterford-based Henry Gwyn-Jones, who purchased the property 20 years ago for 11 million euros, three times less its current value.
Previous works have taken place since Dyson purchased the estate, including the demolition of the existing 1980s single-story west extension at the basement floor.
Separately in an application last October, a planning application sought to construct a helicopter landing area to be constructed on the grounds of the estate.
More recently, an application submitted this week is seeking to demolish an existing internal staircase from the 1990s to make way for a new internal lift and stair.
The house itself was built in the early half of the seventeenth century by Sir Richard Smyth and was continually renovated by successive generations, with the building restored in the 90s.
