Waterford will be represented at The National Pride of Place Awards which are taking place in Armagh tonight. The All Ireland competition acknowledges and celebrates the work that communities are doing all over the island of Ireland.
The Larchville Lisduggan Residents Association will be among the 32 counties hoping to take away the prestigious top award with the group receiving a runners-up prize in 2020.
Chair of the Association John Burns told Deise Today about some of the work they've taken on.
"We have taken on the restoration of Kilbarry Cemetry formally known as the nights templar, that's more or less our restoration project. We are trying to make the whole of Larchville/Lisduggan a more positive nicer place for people to live.
We are trying to eradicate loneliness and depression in our area. And I think we have been successful as there is nobody we know of who is actually lonely or depressed.
"We just turn up we don't ask questions we just get down to work and have a cup of tea and a chat. It is fantastic and puts a positive outlook on everything."
