A Waterford schoolteacher flew to Africa on Monday, in a bid to scale Mount Kilimanjaro in the name of mental health awareness.

Last year Enda O'Doherty, a teacher at De La Salle College in Waterford City, grabbed headlines when he walked from Belfast to Waterford with a washing machine on his back to raise funds for Pieta House.

This week Enda takes his washing machine to Tanzania and along with around 35 other people, will try to climb the world's tallest free standing mountain.

Enda says training has been tough, but he's looking forward to the challenge.
