National Broadband Ireland is currently carrying out its fiber roll out across County Waterford.

In order to facilitate that work, part of the Greenhill/ Kilmoyemoge Road in the Kilmeaden area will be closed for several days from today.

Roy Coughlan, Network Delivery Manager with NBI, says while they work with overhead infrastructure provided by Eir or underground duct work, sometimes there are gaps to fill.

"Waterford in general is progressing well in relation to the national broadband rollout," he said.

NBI are bringing fiber to rural communities, bridging the gaps that other providers may never have entered.

He said the NBI website has details of when you can expect your home to be serviced. You have to enter your eircode and then you will get an estimation.

"The intention is to get fiber broadband out to every remote home that wants the service " Ray said.

NBI are nearly 50% of the way there in terms of getting the fiber to rural communities.

Ray says they are progressing well and that the project should be completed by mid to late February.
