Waterford's Andrew Goff is part of the Irish lightweight men's quad who will go for gold at the World Rowing Championships on Friday.

Andrew from Waterford City along with Fintan McCarthy, Ryan Ballantine and Jake McCarthy have secured their place in the final in Bulgaria.

They took the second and final qualification place in their repechage.

Turkey and Ireland showed they meant business right through the race, with only Algeria and then Norway showing signs of being able to upset this leading order.

Turkey were excellent in the second half of the race, moving over a length clear of Ireland, who were content to find their way to the final.

Earlier this year Andrew was part of the Irish team that won silver in the European lightweight quad event.

Four other Irish crews are in action at the World Championships in Plovdiv today.

Two of those boats are in quarter final action.
