Properties in Waterford City were searched after €8.4 million worth of cocaine was seized.
Gardaí stopped two vehicles in the Lough Owel area of Westmeath just after 6pm yesterday (August 5th).
They conducted follow-up searches at properties in Waterford and Naas.
An aircraft in Longford was also seized. It is understood the drugs were transported into Ireland on the plane.
120 kilograms of cocaine in total was seized in the operation, along with several communications devices.
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking and are being held at Ashbourne Garda Station, Dublin.
One man is 54 years-old while the other is 40.
"Lots of people that were going to be suffering as a consequence of what they were bringing into the country will now be prevented, so look, a really, really good day for An Garda Síochána and a really good day for the communities around Ireland," Former Assistant Garda commissioner, Pat Leahy, said.
Gardaí say the seizure was made because of ongoing investigations targeting drug-related organised crime activity under Operation Tara.
In 2020, it is estimated that 2,000 tonnes of pure cocaine was produced.
