Waterford is now the county with the highest rate of Covid-19 in the country.

It has an incidence rate of 329.7 cases per 100,000 people, according to new figures.

This number is based on HSE PCR tests and does not include those who tested positive on home antigen tests.

As of 8 last night, there were 38 patients in University Hospital Waterford with the virus.

On a positive note, data from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre shows that there have been no deaths caused by Covid in Waterford in over two weeks.

Isolating

GP's across the country are saying people are not following the advice to self-isolate when presenting with possible symptoms of Covid-19. You must self-isolate for 48 hours even after the symptoms are gone.

Gp's are urging people not to rely on negative antigen tests as green lights as they can sometimes be inaccurate.

Ireland is currently engulfed in a Summer wave that is sparking high levels of staff absence due to self-isolation.
