The burglary occurred at approximately 5pm yesterday (Sunday) in Belmont Heights, Ferrybank and has left the owner of the musical instrument devastated, according to Gardaí.

"Needless to say this is a conspicuous incident to have occurred - people may have seen somebody walking in the area with a banjo during daylight hours."

Strangely, the case for the tenor banjo was left at the gate of the property according to Sgt O'Neill.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Waterford Grads Station on 051-305300.
