A sign is being removed from John Roberts Square by the council after a complaint was lodged about it.

It had been tied to a railing over the weekend and says "Stop using mental patients in Woke/Leftie demos."

Councillor Éamon Quinlan says it's also against regulations to put up any notice without filling out an application with the local authority.

Speaking to WLR News he says he also found the sign derogatory.

"The fact that such a public space, and such a prominent public space like John Roberts Square, would be used to essentially put up a sign that would, by most people, be seen to be quite a derogatory sign, is something that was always going to illicit complaint," Councillor Quinlan said.
