Waterford Council recieved 123 calls about pitbulls since 2017

There have been 123 calls to Waterford City and County Council about pitbull dogs since 2017 .

29 attacks were recorded, including 12 on people, 15 on other dogs and 2 on cats.

The figures come as Wexford County Council says attacks involving the breed are on the rise.

The Council there has seen 54 incidents involving the dogs since 2017, and fifteen so far this year.

According to a report in this mornings the Irish Independent, the majority of the incidents involved people being chased or attacked by pitbulls.

Just over a week ago nine-year-old Alejandro Miszan was mauled by the breed at a housing estate in Enniscorthy and had to be airlifted to Dublin for treatment.
