Gardaí attached to the Waterford Community Engagement area conducted several high visibility checkpoints in Tramore this morning.
The operation was aimed at targeting intoxicated drivers in the town as part of the Christmas safer roads campaign, according to Gardaí in a post on social media.
Two drivers were arrested on suspicion of intoxicated driving and 4 vehicles were seized for invalid documents.
Gardaí are warning the New Year period is one of the times when road users are at the highest risk of being involved in a fatal or serious crash.
The Christmas Road Safety Campaign continues until January 6th, and motorists are being urged to pull together to reduce road deaths.
179 people have been killed on Irish roads this year, with eight people losing their lives on our roads over the Christmas period.
