Waterford Council say they still don't know the source of contamination at Tramore Pier.
A reminder was issued recently for people not to bathe in the Tramore Pier area because of e-coli contamination, something which was first identified a year ago.
They say the source is difficult to identify as it could be from many possible sources - such as agricultural run-off, sewage misconnections, or domestic waste water treatment systems.
The local authority are looking at upscaling a nearby chlorination plant in order to reduce contamination.
Once the water quality is deemed consistently 'good', then bathing restrictions will be lifted.
Meanwhile, no update has been provided on the standard of water quality at Counsellors Strand in Dunmore East.
A no swimming notice was issued last Thursday because of high bacteria levels.
