Train services to and from Waterford are expected to operate as normal today after disruption yesterday evening.
Flooding on the tracks meant that trains were unable to pull in at Plunkett Station.
Irish Rail engineers were sent to the station after the 15:10 service from Dublin Heuston had to stop outside Plunkett for approximately half an hour.
The decision was then made to send the train back to MacDonagh Station in Kilkenny and to bus passengers to Waterford instead.
Early this morning, two buses were parked outside Plunkett Station in case they were needed again.
However, the flooding receded enough overnight to allow services to resume as normal.
The 7:50 train from Waterford to Dublin departed on time and without issue this morning.
It comes as a weather advisory for wet weather is in place until 11pm this Friday.
Irish Rail says their engineers will continue to monitor the situation.
