A status yellow thunderstorm warning is currently in place for Waterford and a number of other counties.
The warning came into effect overnight and will remain in place until midday.
Heavy rain and potential lightning strikes are forecast.
The warning is in place for Waterford, Cork, Kerry, Carlow, Tipperary, Wexford and Kilkenny.
