1. Body found in search for missing man in Dungarvan.

A body has been found in the search for a man who went into the water at Davitt's Quay in Dungarvan last night. The coastguard was alerted to the incident by Gardaí at 11.20pm. Rescue helicopter 117 and Helvic Head RNLI were tasked to the scene after reports that a man had gone into the river at Devonshire Bridge. It's understood a second person went into the river in an attempt to help the first man. That person was rescued from the river by an off-duty lifeguard. The man's body was recovered from the water at 2.35pm.

2. Pregnant teachers "terrified" to return to schools

The ASTI says pregnant teachers are being asked to return to schools despite being "terrified". The union wants those who are due to have a baby to be allowed to work from home, as was the case before the summer holidays. Pregnant teachers are concerned about having to spend time in a classroom with unvaccinated students.

3.  Gerry Hutch arrested in Spain under European warrant

Dublin criminal Gerry Hutch, also known as The Monk, has been arrested in Spain. He has been sought by gardaí for several years over his alleged involvement in the Kinahan-Hutch feud. It appears he has been detained in Spain because of a European arrest warrant relating to the investigation in Dublin.

4. Covid rate below average in all local areas

The incidence rate of Covid-19 is below the national average in all six local electoral areas in Waterford, but case numbers have risen in all bar one part of the county - Waterford City South Figures for the fortnight between July 27th and August 9th show the national average at 422.5 cases per 100,000 people.

5. Waterford FC looking to continue winning streak against St Pats

The Blues are on a winning streak, having won their last 5 games in a row, as they face St Patrick's Athletic in Richmond Park this evening. Marc Bircham's men lie 8th on the table on 25 points and a win tonight would see them leapfrog Dundalk. Kick off in Inchicore is at 7:45pm and we will bring you full coverage of the game with thanks to McConnell's Toyota.
