The restaurant, which had its official launch on Tuesday evening, is situated at the Ardkeen Retail Park, close to Tesco, Next, Homebase and Costa.

Brody said that the franchise places a strong emphasis on quality food and sustainability, using fresh vegetables, Irish chicken and beef, and compostable packaging. "We try to take all those negative stereotypes about takeaway foods and turn them on their heads,"  he added.

"We're continually doing new and innovative dishes  - there is a seasonal special, we've just launched Harry's Panang Curry, which is just on the menu in response to customer demand. Particularly around the whole vegan and flexitarian lifestyle, there are lots of options," she said.

Camile Thai now has over 30 restaurants in Ireland and opened several new ones in the past year at locations including Mayo, Dublin, and Cork. The Waterford franchise had been in the offing for over two years.
