Gardaí are out in force across Waterford for the coming days as Operation Storm takes place. It's a targeted operation to tackle ongoing criminal activity in the county and takes place between now and Wednesday.
You can expect disruption to traffic on some of the main routes around Waterford, with increased checkpoints.
Speaking to WLR News this lunchtime, Waterford's Crime Prevention Officer, Sergeant Deirdre O'Neill explained:There'll be multi-agency checkpoints that are going to take place throughout the Garda districts of Waterford, Dungarvan, and Tramore. So it's going to span the entire county. These checkpoints are part of our regional strategy, known as Operation Thor, which is to target criminals involved in burglaries and property crimes in the South East region.
"Gardaí will be on hand to offer crime prevention advice in relation to securing your property, both your home and on your farm."
