Stradbally Ladies Gaelic Football Club has been selected for the Lidl One Good Club initiative.
The Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Programme is run by Jigsaw and the Ladies Gaelic Football Association.
Run over a ten week period, with five key themes, the initiative kicks off this weekend with the 'Be Active' theme.
The club will stage a 'Let's Walk and Talk' 5km walk around the historic Woodhouse Estate, beginning in the village at 12pm tomorrow (Sunday).
All members of the local community are encouraged to attend the event which will conclude with refreshments and music.
"It's really import to be given the opportunity as a club to be involved in this programme," club member Hayley Phelan told WLR News.
"Speaking from my own personal experience, I struggled with depression and anxiety. The aim is to educate younger girls and get as many members of the local community involved as possible."
She continued: "It's our club that has been chosen but we're trying to stretch it out to all areas of Waterford. We're also liaising with the local Tidy Towns and Active Retirement groups, trying to get everyone involved."
