Over 5,000 homes and businesses in Waterford have been affected by power outages as a result of Storm Darragh.
The status orange warning remains in effect until 10am while a yellow warning will be in place until 3pm.
Nationally, 400,000 homes are without power as flights have been cancelled, services postponed and many fallen trees and power lines have been reported - with gusts of over 140km/h reported in some parts.
Power outages have been logged in Dungarvan, with significant outages affecting thousands of customers in the Abbeyside and Ballinroad areas - though much of these faults have since been restored.
Customers are also without electricity in parts of Ballymacarbry, Touraneena, Lismore, Tallow, Clashmore, An Rinn, Kilmacthomas, Dunhill, Fenor, Portlaw, Tramore, Passage and Dunmore East.
A number of fallen trees have been reported across the county.
A number of trees have fallen between Newtown and Ballydurn and on approach to Carrick-on-Suir.
There is also a fallen tree on the Dunmore Road by the Circle K garage.
A number of trees are reported to be down on the Waterford City side of the Airport Road.
A tree has fallen between Geneva Barracks and Woodstown Road, blocking the road fully - while there is also a tree down in the Fairy Bush area of Dunmore East.
Further trees have fallen between Strongbow's Bridge and Jack Meades and by Faithlegg Church.
There is a tree fallen by the Grawn Boreen in Kilmacthomas and a trampoline has come loose on the N25 on the Waterford side of Lemybrien.
A tree has also fallen on the Clonmel side of Ballymacarbry covering half of the main road.
Fallen trees have also been reported on the Bog Road in Dungarvan, near Lord Maguires’ Pub in Ballinroad, and by Beary’s Cross.
Water outages have also been reported in parts of West Waterford. Power outages may remain until 5pm in some parts.
Some train services have been delayed due to fallen trees on the line.
Local Link services will not resume until 10am and afterward on account of the weather warnings.
Waterford City and County Council’s severe weather management team is monitoring the situation to ensure all necessary arrangements are put in place, with Council ground crews on stand-by to deal with any issues that may arise.
